The work deals with human interaction, illusion and the divide between the audience and the performer, however it is the sense of experience that is most important to me as the director of this work. Everyone sees things differently, and the format of 3xperimentia acknowledges that perspective is a shifting concept.
3xperimentia is about the experience of being in the moment during the creative process and keeping that engagement active in the final product, as the product is also a creative process and is performed (human and technological aspects), making every performance unique and defi ning a new genre of dance, cinema and performance. This is a fast paced society where multi-tasking is a given – a constant stream of non-linear experience, that is reflected in the model of Performance that we, the 3xperimentia Team, is producing. Peter Greenaway famously is quoted as saying that cinema died in the 1980’s and marks the date with the invention of the remote control. The 3xperimentia performance experience/model is akin to a VJ/DJ performance, however it has aspects that are more ‘live’ than a VJ/DJ set and foregrounds 3D stereo experience in portraying and realizing the magnitude of
visual stimuli in creating an immersive experience for the spectator.
What is exciting about this style of performance is that what the audience experiences is always unique and the nature of the project will also change over time – as we collect more filmed content and document people and places locally, nationally and internationally – making 3xperimentia a map, reference point and evolving project.
